This supervisory is responsible for assisting in the supervision and coordination of the Wastewater Division including the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sanitary Lift Stations, and Sewage Collection System. This employee supervises the Wastewater Division in the absence of the superintendent and can function as a Wastewater Operator as necessary.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through April 15 at 12:00 PM. Selected candidates will be interviewed by April 30. The desired employment start date is within the month of May 2024.

Wage Range: $76,324.85 to $101,766.46 Annual, Exempt

Job Duties:

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises subordinates operating the wastewater system facilities.
  • Performs or effectively recommends the hiring, transfer, suspension, promotion, discharge, assignment, reward, discipline, and direction of work of subordinate personnel.
  • Works as an operator in the day to day operation of the wastewater treatment plant, sewerage system, and Lake Winona Pumping Station as necessary.
  • Assists the superintendent in planning of construction assignments including recommendations on the allocation of personnel and equipment.
  • Performs wastewater operation and collection system duties as necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment commonly used in wastewater treatment and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Maintains knowledge of functions and servicing of wastewater treatment plant equipment including all electrical equipment required to operate a wastewater treatment plant and sewerage system.
  • Maintains knowledge of OSHA Regulations governing wastewater operations such as confined entry, lock out-tag out, dangerous chemicals, etc.
  • Supervises Wastewater Division in the absence of the superintendent.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience and training required.

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent training at a technical or vocational school with a focus on wastewater technology or related field;
  • Four (4) years of wastewater treatment plant operation, wastewater collection system, or related experience;
  • Possess a valid Class B Wastewater Operators License;
  • Have or be willing to obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement within six months from date of hire;
  • Have or be willing to obtain a Type 4 Operators License for Land Application of Biosolids within twelve months from date of hire; and
  • Have or be willing to obtain a Special Low-Pressure Boiler's license within twelve months from date of hire.
