Bluffview Montessori School, Minnesota’s first public charter Montessori school, is seeking a qualified and mission-aligned Food Service Lead for the 2025–2026 school year. This full-time position is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by managing a nutrition program that reflects the values of health, independence, and community—cornerstones of the Montessori philosophy.

Located in Winona, MN, Bluffview Montessori serves students from preschool through 8th grade in a nurturing, hands-on learning environment. The Food Service Lead ensures that every student has access to nutritious meals that support both physical well-being and academic success.

Position Summary

The Food Service Lead is responsible for all aspects of the school’s nutrition services program. This includes planning, preparing, and serving high-quality meals while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines. The ideal candidate will combine culinary expertise with leadership skills and a commitment to student health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the school nutrition program.
• Plan menus and prepare meals in accordance with USDA guidelines and Montessori principles of health and sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food service regulations.
• Manage food inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in food preparation and service areas.
• Maintain accurate records for program audits and reporting.
• Supervise and support kitchen staff, if applicable.
• Foster a positive dining environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• ServSafe Certification.
• Minnesota Food Manager License.
  
  

Preferred:

• Associate’s degree (AA) or higher in nutrition, food service management, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in food service or nutrition program management.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Interest in or willingness to learn about Montessori education.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual Salary: $35,000 – $42,000 (commensurate with experience)
